Welcome to the Newbottle and Charlton C. E. Primary School Website

Special Notice

The governors are very proud to announce that once again, our school has topped the League Tables for progress and attainment. For the 2nd year in a row, our school is ranked first in the county for end of KS2 results in both progress and attainment. And again we are ranked in the top 5% of schools nationally.

This is quite an achievement for such a small, rural school. Thank you to all the staff for their high expectations, hard work and commitment to the children. Thank you also to the children themselves for their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. And thank you to parents for their continued support for their children and the school. Please take a look at article in the Northampton Chronicle & Echo Many thanks to Rob Middleton, Assistant News Editor

We are a Church of England school where the examples of the life of Jesus are foremost in the ethos of the school.  Here, children are in a happy, caring environment in which individuals can build on their strengths and weaknesses by working diligently, valuing themselves and other people.

Newbottle and Charlton CEVA Primary School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school.  Although our school primarily serves the villages of Charlton and Aynho, we also have many children from the surrounding villages of Evenley, Mixbury, Farthinghoe, Croughton and Fritwell as well as from the town of Brackley.  We are a primary school covering Reception to Year 6 (ages 4-11) and currently have 96 children on roll.  The school is funded through the local authority and as a church school we belong to the Peterborough Diocese.

Standards at our school are some of the best in the country.  We are consistently ranked in the top 10% of schools nationally and last year our school came 3rd in the Primary School League Tables for standards in Reading, Writing and Maths.  We have also invested heavily in technology over the past few years and as a result we are now the best resourced primary school in this part of the county with 15 Macbooks, 11 I-pads; a full computer suite, digital cameras, video cameras, interactive white-boards etc.

However, our school is fully committed to developing the whole child and as a result the pupils here are polite, happy, hard-working and enthusiastic about their learning.  They are kind to one another and go to great lengths to praise, encourage and look after one another.  Alongside this, we have a dedicated and committed staff who ensure that all pupils are given the best opportunities to succeed.  They all care very deeply about all the children and know each child very well.  Pupil surveys consistently show that almost 100% of pupils in our school feel there is an adult they could and would go to if they were upset or concerned about something.  Parent surveys indicate that almost 100% of parents feel their child is happy at our school and enjoys coming to school.

We have very strong links with parents and a very supportive parenting community.  We believe that for each child to reach his or her potential, a positive working partnership between home and school is essential.

We do have places available at our school in all year groups so if you are considering schools and would like to visit us, please do not hesitate to contact us.  I would be more than happy to show you around and explain in more detail how our school would further enhance your child’s learning and well-being. I hope you enjoy looking at our Prospectus and I look forward to meeting you and your child/ren in the near future.Diannah Dean
